Demystifying Mindfulness in The Workplace
Thursday, January 22nd
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Dutch's Daughter (IN PERSON ONLY)
Program Description
As organizations increasingly invest in mindfulness and meditation programs, a critical gap remains. Mindfulness is often misunderstood both culturally and individually within the workplace. For wellness initiatives to truly serve employees and yield meaningful outcomes, leaders must grasp how to integrate mindfulness strategically across three levels: organizational practice, team dynamics, and individual well-being. Drawing from neuroscience and evidence-based research, this presentation explores why not all mindfulness techniques are created equally and how to discern what works. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of mindfulness, actionable best practices, and perhaps a touch more Zen to carry into their day.
Learning Objectives:
- Define mindfulness and its relevance to individual, team, and organizational impact.
- Apply mindfulness techniques to specific situations.
- Identify three ways to integrate mindfulness and define metrics into HR practices (e.g., onboarding, conflict resolution).

Wendy Iglehart, LCPC, MSOP is an organizational psychology graduate, licensed psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and collaborative divorce coach. She leads a behavioral health consultancy practice in Gaithersburg, MD and brings over two decades of humanistic training experience in supporting individuals, couples, and families. Her work with the US Marine Corps developing career transitional programs and launching the Victim Advocacy Program ignited her passion for organizational development and culture change.
Wendy is a published researcher, featured in the Washington Post, and on talk radio for her expertise in emotionally intelligent divorce support. She consults with therapists on clinical growth and business strategy, and has served as a keynote speaker and training expert for social workers, psychotherapists, and I-O practitioners across the region. She is the founder of the Health and Wellness Mastermind Group for the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce.
Her current research explores employability skills, team cohesion, employee commitment to change, and the ROI of training and development. She brings a unique lens to these topics, integrating therapeutic and neuroscientific depth with data-informed strategy to help organizations cultivate resilience, alignment, and sustainable growth. She is enthusiastic about helping organizations build psychologically safe cultures, develop emotionally intelligent leaders, and align people strategy with business outcomes.
Outside of work, Wendy sings with the Gaithersburg Community Chorus, performs solos in church, and enjoys life with her husband, Brian, of over 20 years and their rescue border collie mix, Reagan, who has them both wrapped around her paw ruling the household.
